I UTILIZE trauma-specific TREATMENT, Cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, Art therapy sand tray, DBT, psychotherapy, and wrap around to provide you with a safe place to take off the mask and honor the real you before the world, your diagnosis or symptoms told you who to be. I offer a HOLISTIC mind, body, and spiritual focus to support and assist you in moving forward in your life. I believe that healing comes from understanding the darkness in each of our lives does not define us, it magnifies our light and drives us towards being our better truer selves.

About Me

My name is Penney Rockhill. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. I started practicing as a clinician in 2009 and prior to that worked with children and adults in the schools and community. I currently live in Southeast Idaho and have moved around a bit prior to settling here in 2007. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Business from Utah State University, a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University, and a Ph.D. (ABD) from Capella University where I added an emphasis in Play Therapy.

I started A Penney for Your Thoughts, to provide a safe, comfortable, and non-judgmental space where you can come in, sit down, and take off the mask. Through my life experiences as a mother, clinician, and person I have gained a strong belief in the need to discover and accept ourselves, gain resilience, and be empowered to live as your ideal self. The first part of that journey is taking off the persona others expect to see in a safe environment.

I have worked with children, families, adults, and adolescents who are struggling with behavioral, mental health, and addiction issues for the past 9 years. I am trained in Play Therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, MRT (Moral Recognation Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), MET/CBT, Trauma Focused CBT, Trauma Focused CBT Play Therapy, and IRRT (Image Refocus and Rescripting Therapy), domestic violence offender treatment, domestic violence victim treatment, and WRAP Around.  I am also a State Certified Clinical Supervisor.
